The Logan Lab investigates how physical health, such as fitness, body composition, and movement, can enhance cognition, brain function, and mental health across vulnerable populations. Our research centers around improving brain health in:
1. Children with individual or developmental differences - such as children with obesity, ADHD, anxiety, depression, or early life stress
2. Women in the menopause transition
3. Older adults with neurodegenerative disease (i.e., People with Parkinson’s Disease)
We're focused on promoting physical activity to improve physical health and brain health. By targeting specific populations across the lifespan, and by starting in early childhood, our research promotes the cognitive, brain, and mental health of populations most in need, and improves the quality of life of individuals for years to come. Our methods include activity monitoring devices, cardio-metabolic fitness techniques, body composition scans, cognitive tasks, mental health assessments, and neuroimaging tools.
